Moving away from home to pursue a creative practice emphasised to me how pivotal your surroundings are in inspiring your flow, and how finding your community is so important to stimulate growth. The artists’ direct experience with the different systems in the UK provides a platform for expressions of varied mediums.
This short series will look to investigate the impact your environment, community and mindset have on your artistic practice, in the hope that it also offers some kind words of encouragement and inspiration for other young creatives who are looking to develop meaningful work in their field, regardless of where they are located.
While getting to know some of the tastemakers I interview over this series, I hope to bring to you some authentic reflections and demonstrate the beauty in different lived experience- and how it affects the creative process.
I aim to shine a light on the diversity of UK talent, not limited to major metropolitan cities, and celebrate artistry in all corners of the country.
Each episode will profile two subjects pursuing music, fashion, and art of different mediums, in different locations of the UK, to highlight how your environment produces distinctive qualities that makes art so diverse and that much more captivating.
